Comedian extraordinaire Jerry Seinfeld is returning down under for his first stand up shows in almost 20 years. You’re likely asking yourself two things: How do I get my hands on some tickets and Why the hell does multi-millionaire Jerry Seinfeld need to do stand-up shows? Concerning the former, tickets to his shows will be available November 14 via Ticketek. In regards to the latter, Mr. Seinfeld has promptly replied to that himself. “I don’t care about work: I care about laughing,” the famed comedian told Fairfax’s Andrew Purcell.
While Jerry has had his share of mishaps with Australia, particularly Melbourne (he once called it “the anus of the world” during a live show) he seems much more enthusiastic this time around. “All comedians that I know love Australia because of the humour in the culture … the people are funny and like to have fun and their laughter is always very near the surface,” he told Andrew Denton in an interview for Enough Rope.
This is all very exciting indeed. But it’s important to recognise none of this would be possible without the success of Jerry’s eponymous ’90s sitcom (aka the greatest damn show of all time). In anticipation for Jerry’s upcoming tour, we thought it’d be best to relive the gold standard moments of his show. Most of you would be familiar with these moments. If not, then I strongly suggest you sit down and study these moments like sacred texts.
