Quad bikes that turn into water skis have been around for a minute but they’re still the coolest shit you’ll hear about today. Top Gear had a hoon on them last year (see the gallery above) and now San Francisco police have been gifted a couple too. There’s virtually no reason a cop would ever need to switch from land to water that quickly, but that’s not stopping them from riding around on them.

The machines were gifted to the SFPD by Salesforce.com CEO Marc Benioff, for reasons that aren’t immediately clear. Maybe he saw that Dubai police had a fleet of them and decided that they were vital to the SFPD, and at 50k a pop would never buy them themselves. If he was that set on giving them away to someone, I think he should probably have given them to lifeguards, but whatevs.
