On that curfew game again. Premier Barry O’Farrell has just announced some big news that will affect Sydney pubs, clubs and more importantly, party-goers. Looks like y’all going to have to drink up and stock up. Bottle shops will now be closing at 10.00 pm, licensed venues in Sydney’s CBD will be forced to lock out new customers from 1.30 am and stop serving alcohol by 3.00 am.
The stated motive of the crackdown to reduce alcohol and drug-related violence and sexual assault. You know, the kind of ‘bad behaviour’ we don’t actually endorse here at ACCLAIM. Something had to change but it will be very interesting to see how these new laws play out… as I recall a few years ago the 2.00 am lockout in Melbourne didn’t last long.
