Have you ever wondered where the American tradition “Black Friday” got its name? Don’t worry, Jimmy Kimmel and the students of Edward James Olmos Elementary in Montebello, California have you covered with the history lesson. Kimmel presented us with a heart-warming adorable sketch titled “The Story of Black Friday”. As it turns out, Jebediah, owner of Crazy Jebediah’s Trading Post, was the first person to entice American consumers with an insane post-holiday extravaganza. With deals such as 30% off molasses and half price animal pelts, how could they not sleep in front of the store so they can get the best stuff? For my Aussie blokes who don’t understand the concept of Black Friday, basically, it’s an informal holiday, the day after Thanksgiving (which now really starts on Thursday) filled with overly anxious people acting like complete idiots for major sales.
