I’ve always had this dream of striking it rich, buying a big ass boat and just living in it off the coast of some Caribbean or Mediterranean island. And apparently, living at sea is not just my dream – Freedom Ship International is working on a project that will allow for just that.

The Freedom Ship is essentially a floating city – a 4,500ft x 750ft barge/boat-like construction, which can accommodate up to 40,000 people at one time and will be on a continuous round-the-world trip. Complete with its own mini airport, casino, and commercial district, the project is billed as “an ideal place to live or run a business.” I mean, this ship is so big, it will have its own port…to dock other ships.

Obviously the project is still in the concept phase – the team aren’t going to start construction until they reach their first billi through investors – but I gotta admit, it’s pretty enticing. There might be some mad cases of cabin fever and Lord help you if you suffer sea sickness, but at least you won’t need to worry too much about those rising sea levels. This is the future, apparently. Check out some of the concept images above.
