When I think about McDonald’s, I think about that struggle breakfast on a Sunday morning or the 3am run on the way home from some basement club night – I don’t think about putting on the most expensive white dress I’ve ever bought and pledging a lifetime commitment to the love of my life. But someone has thought about this. Actually, enough people have thought about this to warrant the introduction of a whole range (yes, multiple) of wedding packages that can be staged at the popular fast food chain. In Hong Kong.

According to information gained by CNBC, a number of McDonald’s restaurants in Hong Kong have responded to consumer demand and offer venue hire for weddings, anniversaries and other such ‘romantic’ events.

“We started the program because many customers tell us that McDonald’s is where they first started dating…McDonald’s is where their love stories grew,” Mickey Dees’ spokeswoman Jessica Lee said. “This connection is exactly why they want to hold their wedding parties and even anniversary parties at McDonald’s—to relive sweet beginnings and bring their romantic story full circle.” Right.

True to the brand, there are a number of different packages to choose from depending on your taste/budget. There’s the cheeseburger package* starting at $373, all the way to the MSelections deal* costing $1290, which includes “a pair of McD’s balloon wedding rings, bridal bouquet, apple pie cake display” among other things.

It might seem kinda tacky, yes, but I guess all the McDonald’s parties I’ve been to in the past were actually really fun times – never mind that we were all eight-years-old. No plans have been pencilled to expand this outside of Hong Kong at this stage and that’s probably a really, really good thing.

*Not actual names of the packages, obviously, but should be.
