Netflix will soon be available free of charge to all customers flying with Virgin America, making the entire back-catalogue available to passengers regardless of their class. The partnership was made possible by ViaSat, a global communications and satellite company that provides faster wi-fi to 10 of Virgin America’s A320 aircrafts.

While this is definitely a bid to expand Netflix’s consumer base (passengers will be allowed to create their own accounts in-flight) we cannot ignore the most important aspect of all – Netflix on a motherfuckin’ plane.

Imagine the entertainment revolution that would be commercial flights if Australia adopted this kind of technology. Forget bringing along that Desperate Housewives box set, forget fumbling with clunky, physical DVDs, or cumbersome USB sticks. The future is now.
