For the rest of his World Cup 2014 games, Neymar Jr. will be wearing the brand new Nike Gold Hypervenom Special Edition boots, based on his own gold spraypaint boot customisation as a young football fanatic.

The Nike team worked closely with Neymar to perfect the finish of the boot, to best evoke the look of young Neymar’s early foray into colourways. Nike Design Director Denis Dekovic provides a bit of background on the development of the boot:

“When we met with Neymar he told us that when he was 12 he used to spraypaint his boots gold. He said that he always wanted a pair of gold boots but that he couldn’t find them anywhere. So we took that insight and decided this summer would be the perfect moment to create this boot for him.”
