As the grind of 2017 well and truly sets in, many of us are looking for ways to find escape. Travel is the no-brainer way to get out of your rut and find adventure, stillness, new experiences – whatever your imperative is, really. While we usually have to put in work in order to afford the luxury of an extended period abroad, we continue to live vicariously through the holiday photos of our peers, feeling equal parts envious and inspired. This week, Daniel Mitchell takes us through his journey from São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro.

“This series documents some of the finer elements of Brazil, a country bursting with culture, sublime beaches and urban sprawl. Starting in the bizarre, colourful and action-packed concrete jungle that is São Paulo, [I] voyaged up the Brazilian coastline by bus and by boat. A delight that guided [me] to some of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in the world, all beside the tranquil atmosphere of small colonial towns along the way. To top it all off, next stop was the most picturesque city on the planet, Rio de Janeiro. Situated amidst both mountains and sea, it boasted a fantasy life filled of street samba, favela parties and football on the beach, there was nothing better.”
