In a statement posted on PlayStation’s official site, Sony is out to permanently ban PlayStation 3 hackers who continuously abuse the system. This could be good news for some gamers as hackers often lag up the games and piss everyone off by cheating. However, those who believe that buying their consoles gives them absolute ownership rights over their hardware may not be thrilled with the decision. After “unauthorised software for the PlayStation 3 system was recently released by hackers”, Sony have warned players that use of the software violates the PlayStation 3 license agreement and the code of conduct. According to Sony, violation of the agreement “invalidates the consumer’s right to access that system” and added that to “avoid permanent termination, consumers must immediately cease using and delete all unauthorised or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.” The decision comes at the right time with the recent release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. However it’s hard to judge how enforceable this will be, I mean they’re hacker’s right? They’ll ‘unban’ themselves.
