For a while now, the Kardashian/Jenner family have copped a whole heap of flack from the world. On the internet especially, anonymous commenters regularly come together to unleash their wrath on the successful reality-TV family.

But there’s no doubt that youngest sibling Kylie Jenner seems to be bear the brunt of the vitriol far more than the rest. The 18-year-old – who’s grown up in the limelight, and has had fame heaped on her since childhood – is regularly the victim of  haters and trolls, who pit her against her sisters, and make cruel remarks on her appearance.

Vimeo user Will Rebein has noticed this, and has created a video that combines a rewound Kylie Jenner makeup tutorial with reader comments from recent news articles on Kylie and Kendall’s trip to Australia. Rebein describes the work as a statement on blog ‘hate culture’, and says that it is meant to operate as a commentary on the way vicious comments strip Kylie of her identity and self-esteem.

Kylie is a prime example of the ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t’ trap that women all over the world experience – told by society that certain aspects of their appearance are inherently flawed and need changing, but then mocked by that same society when they conform to predetermined beauty standards. Case in point: her lips.

‘People used to always criticise Kylie for having thin lips, then when she got injections people tried to tear her down – the public will never be satisfied,’ Rebein says.

Even if you have little-to-nil interest in the The Kardashian/Jenners, it’s hard to watch this video and not feel sorry for Kylie. But she’s probably far too busy enjoying her multimillion dollar lifestyle to worry about what anonymous keyboard warriors have to say about her on the internet.
