Watch: 8-bit Cinema have taken on the original Star Wars trilogy

If only we could decide Luke's fate for ourselves

CineFix has recreated the original Star Wars Trilogy in a classic ’80s arcade and NES-inspired five-minute video for their 8-bit Cinema production. Each Star Wars episode delves into a different past time game in order to make the most of the story line.

Starting off with A New Hope, which seems to be based on graphics from a combination of the original The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon games. The Empire Strikes back has a very Megaman feel to it, while The Return of the Jedi made us think, Mortal Combat.

These classical favourites depict the most important scenes and are accompanied by an incredible sound track that makes you feel as though you’re actually playing an arcade game. This sort of nostalgia created by the old school games featured makes it almost disappointing that this ‘game’ doesn’t really exist in playable form.

Have a look at the video above, and see if you can pick out which games inspired each episode.
