If you were ever a child or had a child during the 1990s or early 2000s you will definitely know what Goosebumps books are. Now those books have inspired the latest Jack Black movie.
Goosebumps stars Jack Black as R.L. Stine, the creator of Goosebumps, Odeya Rush, plays his niece, and Dylan Minnette is the boy next door. Rather than taking the plot of any of the books, the writers chose to put all of the monsters together and have them take over the town, after they are accidentally set free.
This film could have gone into full blown horror, but I’m glad that they chose to avoid it, as the adventure story makes it much more family and kid-friendly.
42 Goosebumps books were published between 1992-1996, so there is a lot of material to choose from, which makes the choice to combine all the Goosebumps monsters surprising, as it leaves little room for any potential sequels but Hollywood can always find a way.
