Wyclef Jean hosted a Reddit AMA and it went horribly wrong

"PS. You kinda suck, except for that Gone Til November song"

Like most celebs, Wyclef Jean thought it would be a good idea to host a Reddit AMA—mainly because the Fugees were celebrating a major milestone for their seminal album The Score. As is customary, he opened the floor with a small introduction to himself saying, ‘I am 3X Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter/producer Wyclef Jean, and today marks the 20th anniversary of the Fugees’ The Score – Ask me Anything!’

It soon became obvious that the people of Reddit knew exactly who he was, although we’re not too sure he got the response he was looking for. Instead of the expected fanboy questions (or any reference to the Fugees album whatsoever), people slammed the thread with questions about his charity, Yele, which got caught up in a massive corruption scandal in 2012.

It was reported the money raised for the Haiti earthquake was spent on a studio space in Manhattan and landscaping for its offices with allegations that Wyclef Jean also personally used money inappropriately, and the AMA participants were not letting him forget about it. After being flooded with questions and criticism about nothing but the scandal, it’s not entirely clear whether Clef actually answered anything (with one user suggesting he’d be downvoted a whole bunch) but it did cause the former Fugees member to retreat completely and delete his account.

You can check out some of the harshest (and upvoted) questions in the gallery above, and revisit the whole trainwreck of an AMA here.
