Since his bedroom rapping, where you can almost hear his computer humming, Earl Sweatshirt’s precocious flow and macabre content got legions of young’uns hooked on Odd Future. In spite of his stint out of the spotlight at a Samoan boarding school for at-risk boys, he has been closely watched by rap sceptics, questioning whether the hype surrounding the 16-year-old could translate into a cohesive studio album after he grew out of raps laced with shock tactics. Last year he suggested that it could, in the form of debut studio LP Doris. Today is his 20th birthday, and to celebrate, we’ve compiled 10 songs that catalogue his brief but intense career.
