In an interview with The New Yorker’s David Remnick, it’s been revealed that POTUS Barack Obama says marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol, ‘‘in terms of its impact on the individual consumer.’’

President Obama has admitted to smoking marijuana during his youth, but describes it as “a bad habit and a vice, not very different from cigarettes…I don’t think it is more dangerous than alcohol.”

But that doesn’t mean he is likely to cheer on everyone to partake of the herb.

“It’s not something I encourage, and I’ve told my daughters I think it’s a bad idea, a waste of time, not very healthy.”

Over the past few months, the Obama administration has given individual states the option to experiment with marijuana regulation. He explained that the legalisation of marijuana is important since only a few a punished for marijuana related crimes even though a ‘large portion’ have broken the law. Mentioning that even those who created the drug laws “have probably done the same thing.’’
