Dragon Ball is returning to the small screen for the first time in 18 years. When we first heard that this was happening, all that accompanied the news was a Dragon Ball logo and a translated blurb. Today, a 14-second trailer was released that hints at the stylistic choices and the characters we can expect to return when the series makes its first run on Japanese screens come July. Expect a ton of shoddy fan dubs and captions before it reaches us though–the last Dragon Ball film, 2013’s Battle of Gods, took almost a year and a half to get a proper Western release.

Dragon Ball GT was the last TV series to air between 1996 to 1997. It’s creator, Akira Toriyama, wasn’t involved with GT’s production and the absence was obvious to diehard fans. Thankfully, Toriyama is confirmed to be onboard with Dragon Ball Super, making the return all the more awaited amongst fans.
