Its 2015 and according to the movies, it is meant to be the year that we all ditch wheels and skate on the air. So Lexus went about making frictionless skating a reality with their Lexus Hoverboard.

The board uses superconducting magnets, like the Maglev trains which are currently used across the world. Also the smoke coming from the board is actually liquid nitrogen, because the superconductors get so hot.

The Lexus Hoverboard will be officially launched on August 5, as announced in the above (very vague) video. It isn’t yet clear if they will be available for retail sale, but we know a lot of people will be hoping so.
