There’s been a lot of skepticism since Lexus revealed they were working on an actual hoverboard—I don’t really know why, we are in 2015 after all. The previous teaser videos looked pretty promising, with the automotive company unveiling a pretty realistic design. Even after Lexus revealed a release date, many hopefuls were still saying “Won’t believe it until I see someone using it.”

Welp, it’s August 5 and your doubts are about to disappear—or evaporate via liquid nitrogen. Using modern technology and design, the Lexus version is a little more chic than the one we saw MJF riding in the movie but it still looks pretty rad to use. The hoverboard was taken through its paces on a specially designed skatepark by pro skater, and now an enviable hoverboard test rider, Ross McGouran.

“I’ve spent 20 years skateboarding, but without friction it feels like I’ve had to learn a whole new skill, particularly in the stance and balance in order to ride the hoverboard. It’s a whole new experience.”

See how it fares at the skatepark in the video above.
