According to Variety Nickelodeon is currently considering reviving some of their classic cartoons. The president of content development at Nickelodeon Russell Hicks, “we are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way,”.

Nickeloden have not said what form the revivals will take, though they could come in the form of films, miniseries or just a for TV special. Possible revivals could include Hey Arnold!, Rugrats, Aahh!!! Real Monsters, Doug, Rocko’s Modern Life and, You Can’t Do that on Television.

With many of Nickelodeon’s early fans now in their 20s and 30s they are now having their own kids, it makes sense to bring back some of the classics.

This practice is actually been quite common in cartoons, with Warner Bros. reviving and retooling many of the DC comics animated series. So it will be interesting to see how Nickeloden approach the return of their classic programming, which has such an important nostalgia factor for many of us.
