Young Italian photographer, Niccolo Bonfadini, braved subzero temperatures in northern Finland to capture these breathtaking images of trees completely covered in snow. Bonfadini, who has a passion for nature and the wilderness, survived temperatures ranging from -15 to -40 degrees to photograph a series called “Sentinels of the Arctic” which features the frozen trees in Lapland, Finland.

Shot a couple of years ago, the series has resurfaced online, and is stunning viewers once again. Speaking on the expedition, the photographer said, “That morning I slept in my tent to watch the sun rise from the top of a hill; an eerie mist was forming around the trees, enhancing the mysterious atmosphere.”
