The team at Snapchat call it “presence”, the text message I got from a friend this morning called it “fucked up” but Snapchat have now introduced a chatting function where you can text and video call using the app. The catch? The texts and call history disappear automatically too when you close them. This means that along with your cheeky 3-second-lasting nudes, your drunken calls and texts to that person who isn’t your girlfriend will now be erased without a trace.

Though I’m all for tech updates, I’ve got similar mixed feels about this one, similar to when Instagram ‘Direct’ launched. If the medium is the message, well this is kinda shady. If you’re into it though, click your app and simple swipe right on your friend’s name to get the inbox session started.
