Watch this hilarious news report (maybe not hilarious but definitely charming) on a computer virus outbreak from 1988. It’s got it all: overly melodramatic phrases, über nerd MIT students (“Full-time student, part time virus hunter”) and lots of random imagery of old school 8-bit gaming. I love how after all of the dramatics they’re like “oh, no data was lost and it wasn’t malicious and was completely benign”. Where’s the story here again?

And because I’m a lurker, I Googled that bearded chap in the hat to see where he was now and he’s still around alright and still involved with MIT and mad into his computers, funnily enough his site looks like it’s from 1988. Maybe it is….  Maybe it’s an archive or something. I’m confused. Lastly this image is worthy of note.
