A woman from Indiana is recovering after being shot in the foot during a waterfowl hunt. The culprit? Her chocolate labrador, ‘Trigger’.

According to Indiana Conservation Officer Jonathon Boyd, 25-year-old woman Alice Carter laid her 12 gauge shotgun on the ground without the safety on when the 11-year-old dog stepped on top of the shotgun and depressed the trigger. Carter was shot in the foot at point blank range and suffered injuries to her foot and toes from the bird shot pellets. She was treated at two hospitals but subsequently released.

Apparently, this isn’t the first instance of a dog shooting its owner either. Boyd explained another instance when a shooting had occurred, when during a rabbit shooting a man was shot after he leaned his gun on a tree – and his beagle stepped on it.
