2015 reflections and 2016 predictions: Captain Franco

Goodbye 'Hotline Bling', hello tracksuits in the workplace

Posted by

We asked some our creative mates to share their pivotal moments of the past year, as well as their predictions for 2016. We are no stranger to DJ Captain Franco, as he dictated our office soundtrack throughout 2014. Since passing on the baton, Franco has stayed busy in the Sydney music scene, working with new artists and keeping the party turned up.

What was your favourite pop culture moment of 2015?

My DJ partner Levins upsetting Meredith Festival goers by playing Justin Bieber ha!

Where was the best place you travelled to last year?

Mexico City, hands down. The energy in that city was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before; so many young creatives pushing the boundaries of art, music, food, architecture…. Cannot wait to go back!

What was your favourite gig in 2015?

The Weeknd’s closing set at Coachella.

What are you happy to leave behind as we move into 2016?

Hotline Bling.

What are you looking forward to this year?

I’ve been working with a local hip-hop artist called B Wise who made a bit of noise last year and we’re planning an even bigger 12 months ahead… Exciting times!

What are your top three trend predictions for 2016?

1. Dabbing in photos will become the new rap squat
2. Kanye will release *insert literally anything* and people will buy it
3. Tracksuits in the workplace

What would you like to see more of this year?

Quality over quantity.

Do you have any resolutions for 2016?

Less time spent online, more IRL time with the people that matter.
