The ladies that make up CRXZY SXXY CXXL get parties started on the regular, facilitating the turn-up at clubs and festivals all over Melbourne. Founded by MIMI and Jade Zoe, the crew now boasts a strong squad of DJs specialising in tracks that will get your A on the D-floor.

We wanted to get to know the crew a little better, so we got them to answer a few questions and this month, we meet the physically and figuratively colourful personality that is Manic Pixie. Every month, the ladies will be bringing you the bangers in exclusively curated mixes. What’s your real name, not your DJ name? India Ainsworth – yup, not even most of my friends know that. Feel privileged, dear reader.

Okay but also what is your DJ name? Manic Pixie. It used to be Manic Pixie Dream Girl, but that was a greedy amount of words.

What are your Top 3 songs (to spin or listen to) right now?

By night I DJ, by day I… Actually work for a bank, believe it or not, and freelance graphic design on the side.

The #1 thing on my rider would be… 10 bottles of Sailor Jerry and 10 bottles of Dry. And limes. All of the limes.

My ideal hype man (dead or alive) would be… Q Tip and Phife Dawg, may he rest in bliss. He up there spittin’ more articulate rhymes.

If you had to choose one, would you be crazy, sexy, or cool? Cool is over-rated, I don’t know how to be sexy so I suppose I gotta go with crazy. It fits my aesthetic.

Describe your personal aesthetic in three words or less. Colourful, vibrant, and unicorn.

My spirit emoji is… Obviously the unicorn. Or the rainbow. Choose for me.

My favourite post-gig meal is… Get me some chicken karaage and a big ol’ bowl of kewpie mayo and I’m in heaven.
