It’s that time of year again, when the Australian Recording Industry Association toasts the high achievers of the domestic music scene. I’ve always had a weird love-hate relationship with the ARIAs. It’s kind of like that obnoxious cousin, whom you’ll gladly take the piss out of because they’re embarrassing most of the time but will still defend as soon as some stranger goes in on them. Will Flume be the new Gotye? Can we keep Lorde? Will anyone get their balls out on stage? Where the hell is Gotye these days anyway? Here are my (completely subjective and slightly cynical) picks.
