After a very long silence, Beyoncé has dropped another surprise project with a new single and music video titled ‘Formation’. Conveniently timed ahead of her Super Bowl appearance with Coldplay, the track is on the same vibe as ‘7/11’, with the Queen Bey slaying all over the place and “twirling on them haters” with some less-than-angelic lyrics. The video clip is, of course, a huge production, with numerous sets across New Orleans, multiple costume changes, choreographed dance routines, and even an appearance from her and Jay Z’s daughter, the usually elusive Blue Ivy. There are also some politically-charged undertones within the video and lyrics, which also seem fitting with the start of Black History Month in the US last week.

While it’s not yet clear whether this signals the arrival of a new album anytime soon, Bey has already released merchandise for the single, which you can pre-order right now. The ‘Formation’ collection features apparel and accessories featuring choice lyrics from the track and will probably sell out quickly.
