Bishop Nehru – ‘Midnight Reflecting’

Taken from the 19-year-old's latest mixtape

Posted by

At only 19 years of age, New Yorker Bishop Nehru already has a long list of accolades and an intimidatingly solid skill-set, with a collaborative album alongside MF Doom, titled NehruvianDOOM, already having seen its release (to much acclaim) in 2014 just shortly after Nehru’s 18th birthday.

Signed to hip-hop legend Nas’s Mass Appeal Records, Bishop Nehru recently dropped latest mixtape Magic:19, before debuting the visual to the tape’s lead single ‘Midnight Reflecting’. A low-key, toned down offering allowing Nehru and his tremendous lyricism to maintain the bulk of the spotlight, ‘Midnight Reflecting’ finds Bishop Nehru looking and sounding a great deal older than his 19 years.

Borrowing a great deal from ‘golden age’ hip-hop sounds and flows, Bishop Nehru has, however, shown an ability to flex his skills just as easily on more modern beats in the past — such as with his ‘Jumpman’ freestyle, released in November 2015. With debut solo studio album on the horizon, expected some time later this year, Bishop Nehru continues to solidify his spot as one of hip-hop’s number one names to watch.
