Blocboy JB is suing Fortnite over the “Shoot” dance

Following the footsteps of 2 Milly, Alfonso Ribeiro and The Backpack Kid.

Blocboy JB is suing Epic Games for using the “Shoot” dance in the game Fortnite. The viral moves appear as an ‘Emote’ in the game, which is an animation players can buy for their character, and we’d wager one of the main ways Fortnite accumulated $3 billion profit in 2018 as a free-to-play game. According to TMZ, Blocboy JB is suing over the use of the dance without permission and the fact that it appears under a different name (“Hype”).

Blocboy is the latest in a slew of creators suing for the same thing. The issue jumped off the porch with 2 Milly, the creator of the Milly Rock, before being followed by The Fresh Prince Of Belair actor Alfonso Riberio (Carlton Banks) and The Backpack Kid (creator of “The Floss”). Fortnite have also poached Donald Faison’s dance as the character Turk in Scrubs, Snoop Dogg’s moves in the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” video, and PSY’s infamous “Gangnam Style”, so this most likely won’t be the last time we hear of this.
