Blood Orange leads killer 2017 Sugar Mountain lineup

Joined by the likes of Pantha Du Prince and Lil Simz

Posted by

Sugar Mountain released their 2017 lineup this morning, and boy is it sweet. Cultural icon Blood Orange (AKA Dev Hynes) will lead the festival with his distinctive sound and lyrical tapestry of the personal and political. This will be the New York-based artist’s first Australian performance since 2012, and his only Melbourne show. Other acts to watch for are German electronic extraordinaries Pantha Du Prince, Canadian beat princess Jessy Lanza, and rising London rap prodigy Lil Simz. There’s plenty of local talent too, from the likes of Big Scary, CC:DISCO! and Sui Zhen. If all that’s not enough reason to get you scrambling for tickets, underground music broadcasters Boiler Room will also have their own stage.

Set at the Victorian College of the Arts, the festival is not only a celebration of music but also the visual arts. The 2017 Sugar Mountain team will deliver interactive art installations, as well as an exciting new addition of an augmented reality experience presented in collaboration with Tokyo artist Karan Singh.

For those who want to indulge in the ultimate festival experience, the Sensory restaurant will be back after its debut in 2016 – so you can eat, drink, listen and watch all at the same time.
