PREMIERE: Danté Knows Shows His Growth on ‘Caution’

With production from Tasker, the Sydney-via-Brooklyn artist switches lanes on his newest track.

Sydney-based, Brooklyn ex-pat Danté Knows began his musical journey writing poetry in high school, later expanding that into curated lyrics and a passion for songwriting. His pursuit to command the stage has seen him develop into a musical powerhouse, capable of writing, producing, and performing with an attention to detail that is second to none. Coming from a West Indian background, Dante was raised on reggae, dancehall and the heavy bass trap movement, yet it’s his ability to marry these vibrations with the contemporary influences of Lil Wayne, Vybz Cartel, Tame Impala, that inspires his unique sound.

For Danté, 2020 was about establishing a presence in Australia—the young artist collaborated with a host of local acts such as Delta Riggs, Triple One, Lil Spacely, Goldfang, and more.

In addition to his music, Danté has simultaneously established himself in the fashion industry, having graced runways for Vfiles during New York Fashion Week and featuring in campaigns for Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren and General Pants alongside artists G Flip and Hooligan Hefs.

Today, Danté delivers his newest single ‘Caution’, assisted by long time collaborator Tasker. It’s a big step towards a new sonic direction, as Danté inches towards a post-punk sound, brooding over the Tasker production which is riddled with electric guitars and new wave synth sounds yet still booming with 808s. Secret B tackles the feature with psychedelic croons reminiscent of 70s rock. It’s an interesting meshing of styles that sees Danté leading the charge in his own lane.

On the track, Danté Knows said “Caution is about a vivid dream I had in someone else’s reality. I imagined myself as a middle-aged man in confusion at the end of his rope in a relationship”. With a debut EP due to be released in November, we’re keeping it locked to Danté Knows for more.
