Two things: I like condiments. I like DJs. So, inevitably, a DJ named after a condiment is going to earn instant points in my book. (Shoutout to DJ Mustard.) I’m also a small Asian girl and naturally I share an affinity with Asian culture that extends beyond being Kawaii. Enter DJ SoySauce. He trickled onto my SoundCloud stream recently and since then he has made a bunch of tracks inspired by his passion for food. ‘Hungry’ is an anthem about an underrated emotion that we can all relate to. His most recent track is called ‘Sushi Park’, an ode to the best sushi he ever had. I wouldn’t be surprised if this fictional DJ persona was a musical alter-ego of celebrity chef Eddie Huang. I trust you have seen the trailer for his forthcoming sitcom adaptation of Fresh Off the Boat – if he can spin off his series into a sitcom, surely he can ghost-produce a couple of tracks right?

I wanted to express my feelings after eating Sushi Park.
