Following the release of her ‘Hotline Bling’ cover, Erykah Badu has dropped another new track, ‘Phone Down’. The vibe is pretty sexy, which isn’t unusual for Badu but she’s definitely moved into a more modern realm of beats—reminding me a little bit of the sounds featured on Drake’s Nothing Was The Same. With her previous cover, and the somewhat cryptic message of “This one’s for Aubrey” included in her track description, it’d be easy to assume that Ms Badu is on a Drizzy-influenced tip.

And while we’d like to think this dream collab is a real thing, we’ll probably need to keep praying for it, it doesn’t take long to realise that the writer of ‘Phone Down’ is actually an Aubrey Davis. And the eternally cool singer was quick to remind her skeptical fans that this is just one of ‘millions’ of sonic wavelengths she’s riding at any given time.

The track is set to feature on her forthcoming mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone, which will release on Thanksgiving weekend, November 28.
