Event Recap: Melbourne – A$AP Rocky

You already know things are getting wild when the Mob comes to town

Posted by

Only during summer festival season will you find throngs of music fans flock to fill a stadium on Wednesday night. The Melbourne crowd had already packed out the standing section of Margaret Court Arena by the time opening act Raury hit the stage, getting into the young artist’s eclectic and high-energy set. Of course, it was obvious who everyone had been waiting to see, with the masses turning all the way up when A$AP Rocky, along with other members from the Mob, blasted on-stage just after 9pm. It seemed like just yesterday (because it actually was) that Rocky was walking the Grammys red carpet with A$AP Yams’ mother, but if he was feeling any jet lag, it was pretty difficult to tell. As the Pretty MF said himself (numerous times), it was lit. The fans kept up with Flacko the entire time, as he performed a medley of hits from the early days of A$AP Mob, all the way to the ‘L$D’ era. Rocky also dropped his verses off of crowd-pleasers ‘Fucking Problems’ and ‘Shabba Ranks’ (although there was unfortunately no Ferg in the building), while A$AP Twelvvy also performed his new track ‘L.Y.B.B.’. Of course, there was no way the Mob was going to come all the way out to Australia without paying tribute to their founder A$AP Yams, ending the night with a rendition of the tribute track ‘Yamborghini High’.
