With the recent announcement of next year’s stellar lineup for St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, FKA twigs has taken up a big chunk of my brain space – more specifically, how can I hang out with her, will she bring Rob and can I help gel her baby hair? She is, at once, enigmatic and ubiquitous and we can’t get enough of her.
With the voice of an angel, ageless face and delicate frame, twigs – government name Tahliah Barnett – lends herself to an otherworldly vibe and this was encapsulated perfectly by photographer Sølve Sundsbø in an editorial feature for V magazine’s Fall issue.
The Wild magazine also had the privilege of sitting down with the 26-year-old and got an in-depth account of her progression from a cat-costumed, music-loving child to youth social worker to self-made international R&B sensation.
“The more music that I put out and the more material that I do, the more I’m completely certain of who I am and the type of person I want to be and what I have to give…I can’t be shaken anymore, by anyone. I’ve got to that point in my life that if you’re not a good person, and you can’t make me feel good with love and life, then fuck off, basically.”
