Gwyneth Paltrow has designed handbags for luxury clutch maker, Edie Parker, which seems reasonable/normal in an ‘A-listers tend to do this type of shit’ way . What made us do a double-take was that she designed them to honour her favourite rappers, and has made $1700 handbags that emblazon the names ‘HOV’, ‘SHADY’, ‘BIGGIE’, and ‘PAC’ with inlaid pearl. Yep, turns out Gwyneth Paltrow is a hip-hop head.

It shouldn’t really come as a surprise. The information’s out there if you cared to search for it. In 2011 she was on that creepy Graham Norton show rapping NWA’s Straight Outta Compton, and in 2012 made a personalised playlist for Jay Z’s Life and Times website that shone light on her love for Chief Keef, while also having tracks by French Montana and Juicy J.

While the love looks legit, the clutches don’t—they’re more redolent of something you’d find in your city’s respective China Town than in a couture accessory line. While I can’t find them on Edie Parker’s website, the collab seems to exist to hype the brand’s Bespoke collection that allows you to personalise their Flavia, Jean, and Oscar clutches, so if you like, you can go right ahead and make one yourself with whatever rapper’s names you please.
