Swedish DJ duo Icona Pop, AKA Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo committed a pretty large gaffe at last weekend’s Ultra Music Festival posting a selfie on Instagram of the two of them with Ty Dolla $ign, the collaborator on thier latest single, “It’s My Party”.
The only problem though, is that they obviously didn’t meet up with Ty Dolla during the collobation, because the selfie is with Waka Flocka Flame a completely different heavily-tatooed, African-American, dark-sunglass-wearing, dreadlocked rapper…whoops.
The new track is just a new version of “My Party,” the Leslie Gore-interpolating song from their 2013 debut This Is… Icona Pop, with Ty Dolla standing in for club rapper Zebra Katz, so they probably managed to do the whole collab by email and it isn’t that surpirising that they hadn’t met Ty Dolla face-to-face. That said; they probably should have worked it out before they uploaded the image.
