Gearing up for his Mothers Day (that’s May 11 guys – thank us later) Home N’ Stoned mixtape release, Mac Miller is doing the polar opposite of the Beyonće or Skrillex surprise album approach. Instead he’s telegraphing the release of the upcoming mixtape with DJ Clockwork and Treejay by releasing a few tracks ahead of time. The songs vary from flexing his verbal dexterity on ‘Happy’, to a more atmospheric vibe on ‘Walkin’ Home’, and the more polished production of ‘One Nine Six Nine’.

This is the second time in about a month that he’s dropped three songs at once, last time was at his Carnegie Mellon University performance with an untitled song, ‘Therapy’, and then ‘Insomniac’.

Makes sense that he’s laid-back about releasing songs because he told MTV that he’d be putting out no less than four albums in 2014.

“I have four albums done right now – not done, but four albums that have a foundation and have at least seven songs on each of them.”

While Home N’ Stoned will be one, the other three are likely to be his Pink Slime collaboration with Pharrell, a Mac Miller album, and then a release from one of the alter egos he’s been picking up at whim.
