Not long after sending out an audio message to his fans regarding the cancellation of a couple shows in Europe, Yasiin Bey is back with new music. ‘Dec. 99th – N.A.W.’ literally states “I hope you got what you need” and is an uplifting song from the get-go, with dramatic organs making up the backbone of the beat — I wonder if Kanye’s ‘gospel album’ influence had anything to do with this? Bey puts rapping to the side for a minute on this one, singing about fulfilling your base requirements first. It’s not an entirely surprising direction for Bey, having explored these themes on past albums such as The Ecstatic, and we’re just glad to be hearing some new work from the veteran rapper.
