While N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton is touted as a classic album in this modern age, the LP didn’t actually spawn any major mainstream hits when it first arrived, despite how iconic some of the tracks have proven to be since then. More than 25 years after the fact, the West Coast originators have landed themselves their first ever Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, due to the recent success of the Straight Outta Compton biopic, debuting at No. 38. The song boasts a 127 percent increase in downloads in the week ending August 20, along with tallying 5.7 million domestic streams, Nielsen Music reports.

Two other singles, the seminal “Fuck The Police”, as well as Eazy-E’s “Boyz-N-The-Hood” will also be entering the charts. Further, there are chart re-entries for Eazy-E’s Eazy-Duz-It, Dr. Dre’s The Chronic and 2001, Ice Cube’s Death Certificate and Amerikkka’s Most Wanted, along with two N.W.A greatest hits compilations, to round out sales for the week. For anyone of the opinion that Dr. Dre definitely does not have enough money just yet, your prayers have been politely answered.
