Nick Murphy releases new EP with single produced by Kaytranada

The artist formally known as Chet Faker switches it up

When you’ve achieved substantial international success changing your artist name could considered career sabotage, but Nick Murphy is keen to prove otherwise. The artist formally known as Chet Faker has released a new EP Missing Link, his first output sans Chet. The first single of the EP ‘Your Time’ enlists none other than Kaytranada for production.

The collaboration sees Murphy fleshing out new tones, which he considers closer to his personal taste and character. “Chet Faker was me trying to prove something to myself. But my tastes are pretty dynamic and I realised I’ve spent time resisting that. Now I want to put everything in. It’s not conceptual anymore. It’s just me, and it made sense to show that in a name. It feels like a rediscovery,” says Murphy in a recent press release.

Next month, Murphy will perform an exclusive residency at the Sydney Opera House as part of Vivid Live, before embarking on a world tour.
