Tupac appearing at Coachella last year was pioneering. The possibility of having your favourite artist immortalised in hologram seems to have now opened up the doors for various generations of fans to see deceased artists and bands. Cue Rock The Bells Hip Hop festival who have announced “original virtual performances” by Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Eazy-E on this year’s line-up on their Facebook page, to great criticism and adulation alike.

Both mothers of the late rappers have expressed their excitement, with Eazy-E’s mother Tomica Wright calling it a milestone “to have old generations, [and] new generations be able to experience that chemistry between ODB and Eazy”. Also announced are Bone Thugs N Harmony, Danny Brown, Earl Sweatshirt, Flatbush Zombies, Tyler, the Creator, Wu-Tang Clan, and more. Stay tuned for further announcements, more acts revealed and further controversy.
