There is a new temptation on the Australian festival circuit, and it goes by the name of Paradise. If you’re a resident of the local club scene, ever lingered soundcloud or ever heard of a thing called Triple J, then this lineup is relevant to you. The team at Paradise have put together an all-Australian lineup that is making me feeling some type of way. As per usual, I can’t seem to define what ‘some type of way’ is exactly, but I can indicate that it has got me tingling in ways that would not make my parents proud. Here are five reasons to make you feel some type of way about Paradise:
1. THE VENUE
It’s a lake! It’s a mountain! Wait, no. It’s Lake Mountain Alpine Resort! Located near Marysville, right in the heart of the Victorian alpine forest and boasting views of the Victorian Alps and Great dividing range. A perfect outing for your Timberlands and all that North Face gear you have been hoarding for on-trend purposes.
2. THE CREW
The team at Paradise are 10/10. They know their shit, they go hard and they do it for the love. I’m slightly biased but they really are something special.
3. GLAMPING > CAMPING
The fact that you have the option to camp in the festival surrounds, or if you’re a diva like me – bring along a generator, hair dryer and your full glamping set up. They’ve mentioned that there are also side attractions such as mountain biking tracks, a tube run, overhead flying fox and a laser-tag skirmish course. I am having vivid flashbacks of Grade 5 camp right now and down with it.
4. THE WEATHER
Paradise falls on the cusp of our Australian summer. This means hot weather, zinc, obnoxious short shorts and large hats. Nothing like some Vitamin D to get you poppin’ off
5. THAT LINEUP THOUGH
Relevant to who? Relevant to YOU. There are names you know, and names I can guarantee will creep onto your iTunes playlist within the next six months. Paradise Music Festival 2013 roll call:
Electric Sea Spider
House of Laurence
Naysayer & Gilsun
The Demon Parade
The Red Lights
I’m not going to sugarcoat it, the truth is: you miss it and you miss out. Commit to this, or alternatively spend Nov 29th – Dec 1st on Twitter reading twisted, misspelt, badly #tagged tweets about how hectic and fun it is. No subtweets here. I’m literally standing on my blogging platform and calling out the half-steppers: if you say you like it and you don’t show it, then why bother?
