Today, Australia’s new voice in contemporary soul-pop, Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Akosia shares her newest single and video, ‘Speechless’.

A harmonious infusion of R&B and soul, ‘Speechless’ explores the euphoric and untouchable highs of love through Akosia’s honest songwriting. Produced by Melbourne artist Jerome Farah, ‘Speechless’  captures the joys of new and deepened romance through the lightness and Sade-inspired magic of Akosia’s vocals. Akosia on ‘Speechless’: “If you’ve ever been deeply in love, you’re familiar with its bliss. I wrote ‘Speechless’ when I was honestly enchanted, almost engulfed by this feeling. I felt untouchable, like the world was completely open to me. I wanted to share this feeling in a way that people can connect to. Speechless seduces. It pulls you back to the moment you first felt the intoxication of love. It will engulf you, it will take your breath away.”          

Arriving alongside the single is a captivating visual that matches a narrative of extreme highs and lows in love. From life’s big moments to unexpected tragedy, the video for ‘Speechless’ directed by Ntombi Moyo, sees Akosia with an impressive vision and performed emotion as she plays out her relationship on screen.

Speaking to Akosia on the video we learned: “I experienced a major loss during the developmental phase of the video and wanted to express how fear crept into my life through the visuals. I am a huge sci-fi fan and a little bit obsessed with the film ‘Arrival’, so I paid homage to it through metaphoric storytelling and a plot that explores the cyclical nature of time and the lengths we go to for love.”
