Ringo Starr of The Beatles has been kind enough to share some of his private photo collection for a new exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London. The additions to the gallery are among the thousands of forgotten negatives, which were only recently rediscovered by Starr. Another 250 photographs have been compiled by the drummer for his new book entitled Photograph, which is set for release on September 21.

In a recent interview with Guardian, Starr revealed that the shots in his collection couldn’t “chart the story of four lads from Liverpool trying to live normal lives amidst the frenzy that surrounded them”. He added that he also plans on trying to obtain attain photos from the rest of the members collections for a follow up to his publication.

You can check out all the images from the era that was in our gallery above.
