Twenty-one year old musician and visual artist Jack Vanzet creates dizzyingly melodic and carefully crafted electronica under the name of Thrupence. Living in Melbourne, he has released his debut EP Voyages, and is celebrating with a launch party at The Workers Club on May 10th – where there will be copies of the EP on vinyl featuring the incredible artwork above. He answers our questions about it’s creation out of ‘love, loss and lust’…

My name is… Jack Vanzet

I live in… Melbourne

My new EP is called… Voyages

Some of the things that inspired it are… love, loss, lust, dreams, stomach

butterflies, textures, impulses, interactions, progressiveness, nervousness,

happiness, sadness, friends, family.

It’s cover art looks like… A floral trip.

My favourite track is… Winston

The person I can imagine listening to it is… Running along the sea bed, making friends with all the creatures.

My favourite mixtape would include… Olafur Arnalds, Portishead, Tom Waits, DJ Shadow, The Avalanches, Jon Brion, Madlib

When I’m not making music I… Wait to make music again.

The last thing I downloaded was… Olafur Arnalds – Living Room Songs

The next project I’m working on is… Another album and the expansion of the Thrupence live performance.
