Cris has been on the Melbourne hip-hop scene for a minute as one half of The Plague Doing It Big (TPDIB) alongside NYUON but now, the duo have made dual forays into producing solo material – first with NYUON’s single ‘Your City’ and Cris latest drop, his self-titled EP. It’s up for grabs on a pay-what-you-want scheme on Bandcamp and from what I’ve heard so far, the beats go hard; ricocheting between boom-bap, sparse sample loops and sinister Moog squelches echoing cavernously beneath Cris’ flow. It pretty much ticks all the necessary boxes of a full length hip-hop release too with a soulful semi-ballad track featuring MAYA and the most heavy-hitting trap beat you might ever hear Baro featuring on.
