The second in the series from SOUNDCHECK – a new series offering an intimate look of electronic artists as they tour Australia – features Sepalcure. Backstage at their Melbourne gig, the duo, also known by their alter egos Machinedrum and Braille, talk about their live shows from getting told off by press for dancing too much in NYC to their ever-evolving sound.

“Now you’re seeing these crazy hybrids of music and nobody knows what to call it, which is great. It’s like throwing out the blueprints,” says Sepalcure. While both artists in the duo have been on the electronic music scene for over ten years, their collaboration is based around their shared love for bass and ’90s house music that has seen them create some of the most forward-thinking dance music that is equally at home at a late night rave or on headphone commute. In their debut Australian tour together at The Operatives’ gig, the interview at their SOUNDCHECK offers a playful side of the producers, their take on the scene and why it’s more fun on stage with two.
