The somewhat elusive Yasiin Bey was recently caught on camera by the good people at Hypetrak while in Hong Kong and answered a few questions around his current work, inspiration and living situation. While his new releases have been fairly sporadic in recent years, his Soulfest performances certainly proved he’s still got it and this short but insightful video uncovers some of his future musical projects. Residing mainly in Cape Town, South Africa, Bey says it’s “quite an inspiration, to say the least…almost on every level,” and it looks like that inspiration is about to fuel another venture for the rap veteran, who is about to delve into the beatmaking arena in order to “showcase hip hop as more than just being attached to the vocalist.” Check out the full conversation above.
